Work begins on affordable housing for residents in Sandwell

YMCA Black Country Group is pleased to announce that work has started on our next phase of development at our 235 Y-Living accommodation in Hamstead, West Bromwich.

The new development which will provide 26 safe and secure affordable homes for young professionals and families, will be made up of two buildings, complete with one-bedroom studio apartments and communal facilities.

BPN Architects, long-time partners on architectural projects with YMCA have designed a combination of two and single-storey properties, development will be carried out by Jessup who have also supported YMCA in many of our past construction projects, including our latest site in Wolverhampton, City Gateway, which is home to our administrative office, Y-living accommodationday nursery and training & conference facilities.

Sally Cowan, Chief Officer at YMCA Black Country Group, said: “We are thrilled to be on-site at 235 Hamstead Road working with the Jessup Partnerships to create an additional 26 homes.

“At YMCA Black Country Group, we are committed to providing young adults with safe, aspirational, affordable accommodation with a landlord they can trust.  The delivery of another 26 self-contained homes will enable us to further our offer, enabling our tenants to be connected to their communities, belong, contribute and thrive.”

Chris Timmins, Managing Director at Jessup, said: “This important project will play a vital role in providing high-quality homes for young professionals and families.

“Our partnership with the YMCA Black Country reflects our ethos of collaboration and we are pleased to be able to assist their ongoing work to support young people in the local community.”

Construction is due to complete mid 2024.
