YMCA Black Country Group

YMCA Cycling Club

Our weekly cycling club is aimed at those living in Sandwell aged 16yrs and above, to encourage movement and confidence on a bicycle.

The aim of the programme is to:

You don’t need to be a regular or confident bike rider, but do need to know how to balance on and ride a bike. All rides are led by a YMCA staff member as a lead rider and supported by volunteer(s).

Session Descriptions

Tuesday night’s session can be either a Mechanical Session or Skills & Drills.

Skills and Drills help improve your confidence and ability when riding a bike, simulating twisty corners, emergency braking and tight spaces, the team will help you with manourvres and how to keep control of your cycle.

Our mechanical sessions aim to teach you the basics to keep your bike in tip top condition! Carrying out repairs on your bike might at first seem daunting, but learning a few simple checks can ensure a safe and comfortable ride and will extend the life of the bike.

Meet our team in reception at YMCA West Bromwich.

Joining us for our led cycle rides has loads of benefits. You’ll get to build your confidence on a bike, meet likeminded people and make new friends, whilst staying active and exploring the beauty of Sandwell Valley.
