Celebrating 70 Years of Dedicated Service to YMCA in the Black Country

Celebrating 70 Years of Dedicated Service to YMCA in the Black Country

Yesterday, we had a special celebration to honour Eric and Brenda Moore and their dedicated service to YMCA for 70 and 50 years respectively.

Eric first joined YMCA in 1953 and went on to hold many roles on a local and National level; Brenda supported him eventually becoming a full member herself and starting the Women’s Auxiliary Group for West Bromwich. Both have continued to serve on the board for YMCA Black Country Group until a few years ago.

We also welcomed Denise Hatton, Chief Executive of YMCA England & Wales to present Eric with the George Williams Award named after YMCA’s founder. she also informed us that Eric has served YMCA longer than our original founder! It was inspiring to hear stories of past residents, YMCA staff and trustees who have been supported and inspired by the Moores over the years.

We’re so grateful for the years of service Eric and Brenda have given to YMCA and we’re sure there’ll be more to come in the coming years as they continue to service as Emeritus Status on the Board. They still make the effort to attend as many events as possible; the commitment is unwavering!
